Our ENGLISH LEATHERS are built from sturdy cowhide 1 3/8” in width, and 8/10 mil thick. They are designed for heavy duty use, and to withstand the weight of a heavy rider on jumps, or galloping downhill. The buckle is solid brass with a stainless tongue. Our English leathers come with a sleeve, which is slid down over the buckle when the buckle is placed down against the stirrup, positioned so that when a foot is in the stirrup, the buckle is facing up the trail so it will not bang your shin. Traditionally, English leathers are placed with the buckle at the stop, and on the outside, where it can rub the inside of the thigh. Australians long ago decided that was not nice so they put the buckle down below, against the stirrup, with the buckle facing up the trail when a foot is in the stirrup. The cone-shaped sleeve is pulled down over the buckle. Colors are brown or black, lengths MEDIUM or LONG.
