The AUSSIE SAFETY DOWN AND OUT STIRRUP is an upgrades to the AUSSIE SAFETY STIRRUP invented by COLIN DANGAARD over a quarter of a century ago. Colin has personally modified his original for safety perfection. There is a 3.5 degree downward camber on the foot tread to aid in a heels-down ride. The safety curve on the side is traditional to Australian safety stirrups, that for over a hundred years came in an English style built on chrome or stainless. Colin’s version comes in industrial grade aluminum, to aid in the release of a foot that could otherwise stay caught in a stirrup on a runaway horse! Drags can be deadly. In addition to a drop for the heels-down relief, this stirrup also has a 5-degree camber to the outside, which means a foot taking pressure is offered great relief to the ankle and knees, because the foot will actually be stationed level with the ground, not tilted out as it is in a flat stirrup accommodating the roundness of the horse. The foot is as flat as it would be on level ground. No more twisted knees or stressed ankles. Vertical clearance is 4” and width for foot is 4 l/2”. Each stirrup with leather pad treads (black or brown) is 14 oz. There is an off-side and a near side stirrup. The stirrups are on the correct side when a star stamped out on the outside is facing to the outside when the foot is in the stirrup of a seated rider.
