My Whiskey is a hard-to-fit 16.3hh Friesian/TB cross gelding. I’m a former English riding instructor & trainer, now I just ride for fun. After decades of riding in English saddles & trying Western, a friend introduced me to Australian saddles ten years ago and I never went back.

The saddle is of the finest leather and fittings, the carvings on it are beautiful, and the seat the smoothest, most comfortable ever. The cantle is just high enough and the knee pads hold you in snug. I got the one without a horn, as I feel they’re just in the way, unless you’re roping cattle. You can ride all day in this saddle and will not be sore, neither will be your horse. It has many D rings for all possible gear you may need. The Tackaberry girth is the easiest to use, especially for Ladies who don’t have the strength to cinch up a horse who purposely fills up his belly with air. No girth tightener needed.

Australian saddles are truly the best of both worlds. I purchased the black Carved Colin (formerly the Muster Master) and words cannot express how happy Whiskey and I are with it. It’s the most beautiful saddle I’ve ever owned.

Colin custom fitted it to Whiskey by the wither tracings I sent, and custom made a scabbard and saddle bags to match.

I was unsure of which size seat to get (I’m 5’11”, 175lbs), Colin just told me nice and tight is the way to go. “Ride them like you stole them”. This was the answer I needed, as I ride the same way. I got the 17 1/2” seat on Colin’s advice and it’s perfect. Colin was so helpful with my many questions, as I like everything perfect. And perfect it was.
