CAMPDRAFT LEATHERS

89.00

CAMPDRAFT LEATHERS are unique to Australian riding. A couple of hundred years ago when all saddles had English leathers, Aussie bushmen decided to get rid of the “pinch” and designed a leather that is 2 1/2” wide on the outside and 1 1/4” wide on the inside. This meant there was no way the edge of the leathers could close together and create a pinch. Campdraft leathers are fitted to the stirrup by placing the shank across the narrow section at the bottom of the leather, then passing the tongue of the leather up through the big keeper on the leather, and pulling it tight. The tongue of the leather is passed back through the buckle, then pushed into the slot of the stirrup. When the leather is then pulled down tight against the stirrup, there is no way the stirrup can rotate with movement of the foot while riding. The completely fitted campdraft leather is then slid over the suspension bar, hanging with the buckle to the INSIDE. The length of the standard leather laid out is 56” from outer buckle to billet tip.. Our campdraft leathers are lined with webbing for great strength and durability. They come in brown with brass buckles, or black with silver buckles and can be customized specifically for the inseam of the rider. Call Colin with your height, so he can have them customized, if you are very short, or very tall. There are plenty of holes for adjustment in the standard length for people who are of average height. Colors brown or black..
